Ramey & Browning Leads Team in First World IP Day in the City of Houston

Bill Ramey of Ramey & Browning lead a team of volunteers to organize Houston’s First World IP Day celebration.  The event will be at the University of Houston Law Center on April 24, 2015, at 2:00 pm.  A reception will follow at 5:00 pm.

“The Musical Flavors of Houston” will examine how technological innovations and other issues have impacted copyright law in the music industry, said UHLC Professor Michael A. Olivas, leader of a panel discussion at the event.   The greater event has been organized as a collaboration among the Law Center’s Institute for Intellectual Property and Information Law (IPIL) and a volunteer group of local intellectual property law attorneys. Ramey & Browning settles patent infringement case in the Southern District of Texas

Bill Ramey, of Ramey & Browning, settled a patent infringement case styled KI Ventures, LLC v. Fry’s Electronics et al. over technology related to weapon shaped gun controllers.  The settlement was satisfactory to the Plaintiff.  The case number was Civil Action No. 4:13-cv-01407 pending in the Southern District of Texas.  Ramey & Browning represented the Plaintiffs.

Ramey & Browning sues University of Chicago for copyright ingfringement

On October 17, 2014, Ramey & Browning Bill Ramey filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the University of Chicago for its translation of Profesor Olivares’ Novelas amorosas y ejemplares in the Eastern District of Texas.  Professor Olivares, of the University of Houston, states that the translation aounts to academic piracy of a work he spent years developing.

Ramey & Browning settles case against Bank of America and Scottsdale Insurance Company

Bill Ramey and Harry Laxton, the trial team for Ramey & Browning client Virginia Moherek settled all claims against Bank of America and Scottsdale Insurance Company in a case alleging breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, fraud, and bad faith related to damage caused to the client’s home. The case was pending in the 80th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas, under case number 2013-45238. Bill Ramey was quoted as saying, “We are happy tat our client was able to finally settle this matter.” The financial terms of the settlement are confidential.

Ramey & Browning sues Veteran’s Administration

On July 29, 2014, Ramey & Browning filed a lawsuit styled Jewel Honey-Love, Individually, and as a representative of the Estate of Larry Lavon Love, against the Veteran’s Administration and Acuity Hospital of Houston, for damages associated with the wrongful death of Mr. Love, in the Southern District of Texas under cause No. 4:14-cv02185.
